Shades of Hollywood, 1985–1987

The figures of this series of acrylics on canvas, Medora explains, "... represent the actors from the 1930s and 1940s, when I went to Saturday matinees. The influence on my life was huge, and therefore my concern now for children with their daily intake of hours of television and the Internet. On the large canvases [originally the material was WWII blackout shades used at Rogue River Middle School Library] I wrote about my life." Shades was exhibited in 2000 ata the King Gallery in San Francisco. San Francisco Weekly reported: "... she has painted a series of eight acrylic portraits of Hollywood icons, including Humphrey Bogart, Cary Grant, Bette Davis, and Joan Crawford, with her own graffiti-like commentary." Medora later added a ninth canvas, The '90s in the U.S.A., to the series. It shows the destructive result in society of media that is drenched in drugs, hate and violence.
